The Scitsu
Racing Tacho fitment guide . .........![]()
If
you require help in determining which Scitsu model is suitable for your
application, please submit the following information to us.
You can cut & paste the following questions with answers into an e-mail.
1) Does your ignition system have a "wasted" spark. IE does
it spark on the exhaust stroke as well as the compression stroke? If you
have a modified magneto or an after market electronic system we advise
you to check with the manufacturer for confirmation.
2) How many HT coils does your ignition system have?
3) Does your engine have HT coils on the plug caps or separate HT coils
and HT leads?
4) If it has one coil, how many leads does it have?
5) How many cylinders does your engine have?
6) Is your engine two stroke or four stroke?
7) If more than one cylinder, what is the crank angle?
8) Make, model and year of bike/engine?
9) Make, model of ignition system ie: "original", Boyer Bransden,
Lucas Rita etc. ?
10) What rev range/scale do you require?
11) Do you want the tacho to be self powered or powered by your bike battery?
12) Is your engine fuel injected?
13) Is the tacho for road or race use?
We supply Scitsu tachometers based on the
information you submit, so please ensure your information is accurate
as tachometers supplied which do not function correctly due to incorrect
information received from you cannot be refunded.

Please check the notes below the following fitment table for important,
specific relevant information. Indicated by symbols. EG: **,

etc.
When we refer to a RED model for example
we refer to the red model
identification colour code on the back of the tachometer and not the colour
of the body or face of the tachometer. All tachometers have black body
& face. Back lighting is not an option.

Specific important
Notes:
* 1/2 Spark means: 1 spark per 2 rev's of the
crankshaft.
** Wasted spark means - Spark also on the exhaust stroke for 4 strokes and
at BDC on 2 strokes. Typical of Boyer.
*** May be uneven interval
between sparks. So check with us first.
# Number of HT lead s the sensor lead should be taped
to.
## One HT lead from each coil.
### Front cylinder HT lead only.
V - Twins:
The way to treat a V twin is like a single. Take the pulse from just one HT
lead, ensuring that the pickup lead is kept well away from the 2nd cylinder's
lead so as not to pick up an unwanted signal.
The "powered by battery on bike" (B1) option is not recomended for
V twins because the battery can pick up interference from the second cylinder
and cause an inacurate reading.
Honda VTR 1000 - SP1 = WHITE model..
? Some 2 strokes may have a wasted spark.
++ THERE IS MUCH CONFUSION ABOUT BSA & TRIUMPH TRIPLES AS IGNITIONS ARE
AVAILABLE FOR EITHER FIRING SEQUENCES ie; ONE SPARK * EVERY TWO REVS * FOR
EACH CYLINDER = ONE & HALF SPARKS/ENGINE REV
OR ; ONE SPARK * EVERY REV * FOR EACH CYLINDER = THREE SPARKS/ENGINE REV
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CUSTOMER TO DECIDE AND ADVISE ON WHICH CONFIGURATION
HE HAS WITH ADVICE FROM HIS IGNITION SUPPLIER.
